It was late, there were four of us on, and it was closing time. Looking to get out kicks elsewhere, me, TNSEN, T-T, and Tookey (Dirk was with us but left immediately) decided to throw ourselves at the mercilesss maw of the Gate of Anguish. We spent half an hour detailing our plan and strategy, resulting in a truly epic build that couldn't be beat.
Then we died right after leaving the outpost.
Twice.
Though we weren't really expecting results, we were discouraged nonetheless, and opted to do some Hard Mode in Elona. We headed back out into the Chantry of Secrets, and before we could begin deliberations on which area to do first, we noticed that as it so happens, we had favor. Cries of "UW!" and "HAMSAUCE!" went up in the air, before TNSEN stated quite simply;
Tiao Jin Jiao: I've never done FoW before
Enthusiastic, we all agreed to do that and immediately jumped into it after paying the entry fee. We were pumped, we were ready, we were an ambitious young crew with everything to prove!
Dirth Arcadius: omgwtf?!
TNSEN, who was bringing two of his heroes, hadn't loaded yet, and since I also had to pre-load some of the elements of the Fissure of Woe, I had showed up RIGHT as one of the nearby mobs began slaughtering T-T and Tookey. There were a few deaths (including me), but once TNSEN loaded we were able to fend off the mob and get our bearing.
For the most part, our trip to the FoW was uneventful. We ran into quite a few situations like the one above, but ultimately managed to keep surviving. On a few occasions we would get overwhelmed and I would have to give the order for an organized retreat, though sometimes that just wasn't an option.
Dirth Arcadius: RUN, T-T, SAVE YOURSELF!
Tongue Tied Twisted: What?
It's true, on more than one occasion we had to send our stalwart T-T away so that she might return andtake our loot revive us to continue our journey. Eventually it got to the point where we were too tired, and decided to throw ourselves into an epic mob so as to leave the Realm of Balthazar in the glory of battle. And oddly enough, it actually turned out that way. Srsly, we were pwning for awhile before the pressure eventually became too much.
Dirth Arcadius: Tookey, don't be a hero!
Tiao Jin Jiao: Engage them in fisticuffs!
Tookey D: Wut?
All in all, we ended up with some fantastic loot. 6 shards, divided two for everyone but me (me and T-T rolled for it and she won), a Passage Scroll to the Fissure of Woe (me), a max req9 Strength Shadow Shield +8 against Piercing (me), a few other golds, a LOT of crappy shadow bows (I ended up with a full stack of wood from the salvage), and, the piece of resistance, a purple...max damage...Crystalline Sword.
For those not in the know, max damage Crystalline Swords are the rarest most sought after weapons in the game. Like, srsly, good ones can sell for 1000k (no lie, check the High End pages of GW Guru's Ventari's Refuge board). It dropped from one of the quest chests which T-T, TNSEN, and Tookey rolled for (I won the roll for the first chest which dropped NOTHING). When Tookey, who won, went to claim his prize, the sword dropped assigned to TNSEN. However, perhaps deluded by visions of altruism, he gave up the sword to Tookey, who accepted it with great humility. You rock, TNSEN.
This also means that Tookey can't leave the guild without paying him 1000k. That's how we roll, baby, reel'em in and hang'em up to dry! #slick#
Uncropped pic with no emotes, showcasing the phattest loot we found. Also; Gwen! <|
